[RECIPE] Easy classic donuts that toddlers love!

I don’t know about yours, but my toddlers go through a craze every few months or so… They get into something they really like and they become full on nerdy and fan boys. Yes I am talking about my two and a half year olds.

The biggest thing  for them was (is) the fascination for sea animals. They LOVE everything ocean related. They want nothing to do with land animals but when it comes to ocean creatures, they know the names of all kinds of species and different types of sharks and whales. Everything they talked about and they sang or played with was sea animals.

Then, they moved onto dinosaurs. They still have a special spot for sea animals in their hearts but now they only want to watch dinosaur related shows or movies and they only want to play with dinosaur toys. They keep asking us how to say different names of dinosaurs.

Even in this crazy dinosaur phase our boys are going through right now, they had a small break. They let something else occupy their day… and guess what…

It was donuts.

They asked me to draw many many donuts on the paper, they pretended a letter “O” was a donut, they brought out their donuts toys and played with them for hours. I know how this happened though. On Father’s Day, we delivered a box of donuts (from a store) along with the gift to daddy to his work and the boys got to have taste yummy donuts…! Since then, they have been obsessed!

It’s super cute when they like something and get obsessed about it. So an idea to make donuts at home came to my head. I didn’t plan it. It was spontaneous so it had to be easy!

My spontaneous donuts making went surprisingly really well and the boys LOVED them. It was super easy and tasty so I wanted to share it with you all here!

  2. Optional to add sugar to the batter.
  3. Let the batter sit for 5 min to make it thick.
  4. Once thick, pour the batter into a ziploc bag and cut off a small edge of the bag.
  5. Pour oil into a pan and let it heat for a few minutes. (1cm deep)
  6. Squeeze out the batter from the small hole of the bag and draw a circle on the pan. (Make sure it is a thin line as the dough will puff up)
  7. Once the top surface of the donuts start to have small holes, turn them over.
  8. Take them out of the pan.
  9. Add small amount of water to icing sugar to make a glaze and pour the glaze over the warm donuts.
  10. And the yummy donuts are done!!

I know it is such a easy, fool proof recipe, but that’s the kind of snacks that family can enjoy making together or can have fun eating them as they are so quick to make.

My boys were so excited to know we could have donuts right here, at home!

Hope everyone has a great week.
